Upon its arrival in the United States, the current owners commissioned a full frame of restoration consisting of complete engine and transmission refresh, a suspension, refresh, full exterior paint and interior reupholstery and rehabilitation. The interior is made to provide the utmost coziness and comfort in any camping experience featuring a working sink, a working refrigerator (both to be powered by an external generator). The powertrain is the original air cooled four-cylinder, rear mounted, mated to a four speed manual transmission. It has power drum brakes in all four corners for stopping power. The camping conversion was originally done by Bob Iser and then recent restorative work was done by Redline Restorations of Bridgeport, CT. The quality of the restoration is self evident; the Van is in show condition. Included in the Bob Iser camper kit, is a raising center roof section, which increases headroom, a coffee table that is completely disassembled for driving, two couches, a 120 volt refrigerator, a sink, and plug for an external generator. It also comes with a set of matching tea cups and a Volkswagen branded gas powered portable grill.
